The Goa Court Granted Suchana Seth's Request to be Referred to the Mental Health Board

Suchana Seth, the founder and CEO of The Mindful AI Lab, an artificial intelligence firm, allegedly murdered her four-year-old son in a Goa hotel on the intervening night of 7–8 January.

The Goa children's court on Monday granted the father's request that Suchana Seth, the AI analyst accused of killing her four-year-old son at a hotel in the coastal state in January this year, be examined by a board of doctors under the Mental Healthcare Act.

Speaking after the hearing, Adv Franco, who argued the case, informed journalists that police will now have to produce Seth before the board for a further test of her mental state condition.

"The court approved the application. The order's operative component requires her to be referred to a board under the Mental Health Act for further assessment," Franco added.

The Goa Police had previously rejected the appeal, saying the court that Seth was exposed to regular health checks, including an assessment of her mental state during her time in detention.

"She provided clear and sensible responses in her assessments. She reported no active suicidal thoughts or wishes. Her judgement is sound, and her responses did not reveal any pyschotic or pervasive mood disorders," police told the court.

Seth, the founder and CEO of The Mindful AI Lab, an artificial intelligence firm, is accused of murdering her four-year-old kid in a Goa hotel on the intervening night of 7 and 8.

The horrible murder was discovered when Seth was apprehended in Karnataka's Chitradurga district, about 160 kilometres from Bengaluru.
