Living on the edge
Understanding Borderline Personality Disorder.
A borderline personality disorder is a form of mental health disorder wherein an individual’s life is severely impacted by the ability to regulate their emotions. This loss of emotional control can increase impulsivity, affect how a person feels about themselves, and negatively impact their relationships with others. It includes self-image issues, difficulty managing emotions and behavior, and a pattern of unstable relationships.
About 1% to 2% of the general population has Borderline Personality Disorder. It’s usually diagnosed in teens and young adults, and can also be diagnosed later in life. It seems to affect more women than men.
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a clinical diagnosis that is often misunderstood. The experience associated with BPD involves intense emotional and behavioral challenges for both the individual and their relationships with the people around them. This webinar’s purpose is to increase the understanding of BPD from the perspective of all those impacted, including caregivers, family members, and those diagnosed.
